Trauma and Complex Trauma
I understand that trauma can impact every aspect of life, including emotional well-being, relationships, confidence, physical health, and a person’s sense of safety in the world. Trauma may develop following a single distressing experience or through repeated or prolonged experiences over time, often referred to as complex trauma. This can include childhood adversity, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, bullying, loss, medical trauma, or difficult relational experiences.
I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising that trauma responses are deeply personal and unique to each individual. Trauma can present in many ways, including anxiety, emotional overwhelm, panic, hypervigilance, intrusive memories, dissociation, low self-worth, emotional numbness, or difficulties trusting others.
Within therapy, I aim to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can begin to explore your experiences at your own pace. My approach focuses on emotional safety, trust, grounding, and helping you feel more connected and supported within yourself.
Alongside processing difficult experiences, I support clients to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, self-awareness, and a greater sense of stability and understanding. Healing from trauma is possible, and therapy can provide a space to begin making sense of experiences whilst moving towards greater safety, connection, and hope.
