OCD and intrusive thoughts
I understand how distressing and exhausting OCD and intrusive thoughts can feel. Many people experience repetitive unwanted thoughts, fears, images, or urges that create significant anxiety, guilt, shame, or self-doubt. Often, individuals can feel frightened by their own thoughts or worry that others may not understand them.
I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about your experiences without fear of criticism or misunderstanding. I understand that intrusive thoughts do not reflect who you are as a person.
OCD can present in many ways, including checking, reassurance-seeking, contamination fears, rumination, perfectionism, compulsions, intrusive thoughts related to harm or relationships, and mental rituals. These cycles can become overwhelming and significantly impact everyday life, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.
Within therapy, I work collaboratively to help you better understand OCD patterns, reduce shame and self-criticism, and develop healthier ways of responding to anxiety and intrusive thoughts. My approach combines compassion, psychoeducation, and evidence-informed therapeutic approaches to support you in regaining confidence and feeling less controlled by fear and compulsive behaviours.
I believe therapy can help you build a more compassionate relationship with yourself, whilst creating greater freedom and emotional stability in your daily life.
