Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
Critical incidents can have a significant emotional and psychological impact on individuals, teams, and organisations. Exposure to traumatic or distressing events within the workplace can affect emotional well-being, confidence, functioning, relationships, and a person’s sense of safety and stability.
I offer Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) support for organisations, teams, and individuals following distressing or traumatic incidents. This may include sudden death, suicide, workplace trauma, violence, accidents, safeguarding incidents, medical emergencies, or other highly stressful events.
My approach focuses on creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals can begin to process and understand their reactions following an incident. CISD aims to reduce emotional isolation, provide psychological support, encourage stabilisation, and help individuals recognise that many stress responses following trauma are normal and understandable.
I understand that people respond differently to traumatic events, and my work is always approached sensitively and without pressure. Support may involve psychoeducation, emotional processing, grounding strategies, reflective discussion, and signposting for additional support where appropriate.
I aim to provide calm, compassionate, and professional support following critical incidents, helping individuals and teams feel contained, supported, and better able to move forward following difficult experiences.
