Dissociative Identity Disorder (D.I.D.) and dissociation
I understand that dissociation can often feel confusing, frightening, isolating, or misunderstood. Dissociation is commonly a protective response to overwhelming or traumatic experiences and can involve feeling disconnected from thoughts, emotions, memories, surroundings, identity, or sense of self.
I offer a safe and compassionate therapeutic space for individuals experiencing dissociation and Dissociative Identity Disorder (D.I.D.). I recognise the importance of approaching this work gently, collaboratively, and without judgement. My focus is always on emotional safety, stabilisation, grounding, and building trust within the therapeutic relationship with clients and their parts/alters.
I understand that many individuals experiencing dissociation may have previously felt unheard or misunderstood within services. Therapy, therefore, moves at a pace that feels manageable and safe for you, rather than rushing into traumatic experiences before appropriate foundations are in place.
My work may involve supporting emotional regulation, increasing understanding of dissociative experiences, developing grounding strategies, strengthening internal awareness and communication, and helping clients feel more connected and supported within their everyday lives.
I believe that dissociation often reflects incredible resilience and survival in response to overwhelming experiences, and I aim to provide a therapeutic space where all parts of your experience are met with care, respect, and understanding.
